Here piggy, piggy, piggy!

There really hasn't been much going on in my life since the last time I blogged but I made a deal with HannahLou to post if she posted. She has yet to post but I'm doing it now... mainly so I can win :)

This past week went by both slowly and quickly. There was a lot to get done at work, but it all got done. There was a lot of wonderful weather, but it was well enjoyed. Aside from the migraine I had for four days, things were great.

On Sunday, April & I threw a BBQ for our friends since it felt like we hadn't seen them in a long time. I played Martha while April played Mary, but it was nice to see all of them. Met Melanie's fiance, Matt. He's hilarious. Love him. Got to see Erin and her starting-to-stick-out belly, which got me excited about making something for Baby Rockey. Maybe this? Sans flowers, of course, since we don't know Baby Rockey's gender! All in all the BBQ was great. Would've been better had April's PTboy decided to come... c'est la vie!

Monday the boy took me to the State Fair. Luckily it was GORGEOUS and not all too crowded. Although he didn't plan on having fun, he did. I think the real fun started when we went to watch the Kenai Racing Pigs in all of their glory. Oh was I excited.

We walked around for a few hours, bought lots of good Fair food-- corndogs, cotton candy, funnel cakes, YUM. The boy even bought sheep skin slippers and a -30 sleeping bag for 1/2 off. Pretty sweet deal. We even went against our best judgement to take an overtly cutesy picture:

Tuesday I spent the evening with the kiddos at the Fair to see the band Family Force 5. Pictures to come. The concert wasn't as bad as I expected and I like hanging out with the kiddos so overall, it was a good trip.

Tomorrow my mentee graduates from the Alaska Military Youth Academy. I'm very proud of her for the changes she's made (and continues to make!) in her life. Hopefully I can be a better mentor post-residentcy than before.

Anywho, that's about it. Au revoir!

Festering & Florida

It seems like I 'fester & rot' every few months. Apologizes for the vague entries and the lack thereof. All is better now. Seems I've learned some things over these past 25 years that have made me just a bit braver in some circumstances. Anyway...

A few weeks ago we got back from our Journey to Florida and there are just too many stories to mention in a single blog. I've recapped the first week in Daytona Beach here and I had promised pictures. Thus, in lieu of posting several rather long paragraphs recapping the events of the National Youth Gathering, I'll just share some pictures...

For now, it's back to the grind. I have to get back in to the swing of things rather quickly so that I'm ready for all our fall events to start. The kids have already planned the next year so really it's just about carrying it out! Sweet!

Time Flies!

Once upon a time a few weeks ago I was checking up on my friends via MySp@ce only to discover some disturbing news-- Melanie was moving to the frigid-and-very-far-away Kotzebue! I quickly called her leaving a message: melaniemorganweneedtohangoutbecauseIneverknewyouweremovingandyouneedtotellmewhycallme Yes, it was all in one breath. So, Tuesday night Mel came over to mi casa to hang out, make ice cream, and talk about her man. Matt is his name, firefighting his game. They met via MySp@ce in June, are getting married in December, then moving to Kotzebue soon after. Holy moly. Talk about out of touch OR, rather, how quickly things can change in just a month. I'm VERY happy for her and cannot wait to meet Matt, BUT I am NOT excited about making my own bridesmaid dress!! {ENTER FEAR HERE}

Regardless, it got me to thinking about how quickly some things happen and how slowly others do. How different things can be from one day to another. I don't know. This week has been kind of a downer for me mostly because I've been thinking alot-- and some of you know how much of a bad thing THAT is! I'm sure it's nothing but it sure feels like something... Part of that thinking has been this project I might just take on. Whaddya think? Lots of thoughts on this myself, some not even to do with the house itself but what it'd mean to buy it at this point in time.

To sum it up:
YAY for Melanie & Matt!
BOO for thinking too much!
